Agent 007

In church on Sunday we did not have our head pastor, he was on a trip with his wife. The assistant pastor was talking about something called a "tin whisker"...

A Tin Whisker is this: A piece of tin that grows off of the original creation and is normally detrimental to the whole creation.
=Basically: A BAD thing.=

Doug was saying that those who do not know Christ are like tin whiskers, they deviate from the path they are supposed to take and go haywire. One time one tin whisker brought down a whole satellite. This was back when there were pagers though, but that is intense...

Well needless to say my brain switched the roles. My brain thought of us Christians as the tin whisker... We deviated from the "world's" path and one Christian, a true Christian can make such a huge difference.

Then!!
SIDE NOTE: My brain notices repetition, very quickly and very easily. So when something is repeated to often I notice.
He kept saying the same term over and over "OUR MISSION"
Well what comes to mind when you hear that?
Mission Impossible of course...

My brain started thinking "Your mission should you choose to accept it, is to go into the world and make disciples of all people. To preach the good news of our Lord Jesus Christ." Okay, not in those exact words...

Well when I think of Mission Impossible - I think of spies - when I think of spies well I automatically think of James Bond. haha

So I was thinking... we are like James Bond, not that we have nifty gadgets, kill lots of people, make out with lots of people, oh and are excessive gamblers... but we are 007 agents..

007 is "the right to kill"
This may seem contradictory to what Jesus teaches but give me a minute to explain.

We are 007 in the fact that we are the ability to kill our sin, to die to self, sacrifice ourselves for Christ. It is only ourselves that can put on the alter our sin, and it can only be put to death if we give Jesus the right to.. he will not do something if we do not want him to.

So maybe you cannot see my correlation, but that is how my brain was working Sunday during the sermon..

So really our mission is spoken like that of Mission Impossible but rather we are "Mission Possible"

Chew on this a while... maybe it will make sense
