In recent news the popularity of zombie related things has skyrocketed. Many of the younger generation have had a renewed interest in all things Vampire. What with all the "Twilight" propaganda, movies, and all four of the books; but get real! A vampire, one of the most terrifying monsters, falling in love with a normal human. One who is co-dependent, grumpy, and all around annoying? (If you couldn't tell... if I choose sides I would be "Anti-Bella")
With this renewed interesting in Vampires other fantasy characters are becoming ignored. One of the monsters that is not deterred by the increase in "vampire-mania" is the Zombie. While many believe Zombies to only be fictional, this Blog here believes they are not just "make believe." In fact the author has seen, been introduced to, and talked to many a zombie.
Not only are Zombies real but a Zombie Apocalypse is absolutely capable of happening. (FREEZE!! There are two ways I can take this blog now... I can go the normal fiction route, what with the brain eating zombies or I can go the Non-Fiction route with Jesus!!! =D Maybe I should do both but in different colors... yep.)
An apocalypse of Zombies is plausible! I mean really! How many people do you see walking around who are 1.) half out of it 2.) stare at you.. perhaps while drooling 3.) love to say the word "Brains!" 4.) Eat a crap load of food? and 5.) Wear red bandannas Well? A lot... only logically are they zombies.. All you out there with a Nerf gun beware! For during the week any zombie can tag you and you shall be changed there to a Zombie... this starts the take over of Zombies and their reign of the earth... An Apocalypse though means the end of all things... so the Zombies will take us all out and then start attacking each other.. logically right? So after they die from "starvation" or from being eaten the world will be empty and ready for another "evolutionary" explosion....
If this were fiction....but what if it were truth? The whole story? The non-fiction side?
A zombie by definition is: "A body that has been brought back to life by supernatural force." So we think about this in a religious sense. As a person we are born as the living dead. We walk around in our bodies of sin, not fully aware of the live available through Christ. We go about our everyday lives, hoping, waiting and wishing for something to fulfill our lives. We take tests, do programs and drown our sorrows but nothing every seems to fill that gap. Nothing seems to give us life.
While we are given glimpses of this eternal joy nothing ever completely satiates the hunger deep within... nothing that is until Jesus. We are zombies until we meet Christ. He quietly knocks on the door of our hearts, all the days of our lives, until we answer and let him in. Then he is continuously knocking on more doors of our hearts helping us clean house and start a new life. A living life. "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" (2 Corinthians 5:17. The new! The new life, the new hope, the new joy, peace, sense of security and the new replacement for that hole that was once empty. A new fixture for our hearts to fill the gap long since empty. A filler that is permanent and never failing, a filler that is worth more than words can express, a filler that completely stops the bleeding and satiate all needs.
With this new life we actually can still in a sense be called Zombies.... why? How can we be zombies before and after Christ? Well see before we are the bad brain eating zombies, and after... we are more like the infectious zombies the ones people are drawn too and don't know why so we can share the gospel... let me explain.
Romans 6:4-9 and 11
We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— because anyone who has died has been freed from sin.
Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him.
(11)In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
What awesome news! So all you zombie fans, as a Christian you can stay that way and still make logical sense of it!
I am sure I have more to write, but I have a headache, have schoolwork and need sleep.
