Song 2009: My Boy Builds Coffins / White Blank Page

Warning: This post is actually long, because I couldn't choose a song. There are two. Please read both, they both deserve the attention.

Song 2009A: My Boy Builds Coffins
Artist: Florence + the Machine
Album: Lungs
The debut album of Florence + the Machine. I learned about this band through a friend, he adores Florence Welch. (Seriously, I do not use adore lightly here) Florence weaves stories, surprising melodies and the pain and joy of love in her music. There are many songs I could share but I decided on My Boy Builds Coffins. When I looked up her music on YouTube I found a video of her singing this song along with a small interview. (The link below is the video I watched)

If for nothing else I love this song because of the story it tells. A lonesome boy who makes coffins, her lover does nothing else with his craftsmanship. He doesn't make coffins because he wants to, but because they are needed. "One of these days, he'll make one for you..."

Give it a try:

Song 2009B: White Blank Page
Artist: Mumford & Sons
Album: Sigh No More
Another debut album. If you know anything about Mumford and Sons you know they rock the house with their foot stomping, heart thumping, adrenaline rushing sound.

There was no way I could choose between Florence and Mumford, and so I had to put both. There are many songs on this album that I plain adore. The Cave has been played on the radio quite a bit lately. For both Florence and Mumford, for being debut albums, have a lot of attention!! =D

Little Lion Man is a favorite, but I love the lyrics of White Blank Page. "Tell me now, where was my fault, in loving you with my whole heart?"

Money. Europe. British Boys. Stalking. Fans.

Money: So I am saving monies. I need to save $500 so I can finish paying off my beautiful little car. It is already sitting in my driveway, but alas I do not have a license plate for it because I do not have the title. I would show you the actual car.. but I never thought to take a picture of him... so here is the best I can find on the internet:
Beautiful eh?
Okay, so maybe I was exaggerating his magnificence... But! Nolan is a good car.. he does need new Oil, brakes and a battery... oh and a steering wheel cover... and a plug in lighter.. okay a little work but I am glad to have him.

Europe: After saving for a car I am being "forced" to invest money in a saving for a trip to Europe. Sure my mom doesn't need to force me, but it is nice to have her reminding me.

British Boys: Okay, so I do love Irish boys too, but I have found myself "stalking" the YouTube Brit Charlie McDonnell recently... my roommate called me out on it this morning and I said that it wasn't stalking because all the information is "easily accessible." He is adorable, sings and what might be most important: he loves Dr.Who (and even met Matt Smith.. -sigh- though I love the Scot David Tennant... )

Stalking:This coincides with the previous bullet point. So here are the links I guess...

Fans: Again... associated with the previous statement.. I am not that original, geez. I could go over a few things that I am a fan of if you want:
- Chocolate Bars
-Peppermint Canes
- Sarah's Poem about Coffee
- Emily's Competitiveness
- Stylish Boxes
- YouTube Videos
- VlogBrothers
- Blues Travelers
- Obscure Instruments
and
- Grapefruits (even though I prefer oranges)

As an update: Back at University. Classes for me start today at 3pm. I start my semester with a Paleontology lab! Yay!
Time to get ready for dinner... or lunch... or midday meal... whatever you want to call it.

Top 10 Favorite YouTube Videos

So to spice up my blog here, I am going to put up ten of my favorite YouTube videos. Now, because I love so many YouTube videos only a few of these are actually songs, however none of them are official music videos, so I will accept that... Maybe? Okay well here are ten of my favorites. I will need to put up some more for my others. (Also, two are not on YouTube because they were taken off... stupid I know.)

1.) Kittens Inspired by Kittens
What video list is complete without Kittens Inspired By Kittens? None, I tell you; no list is complete. I read that the mom taped her little girl reading this, because she taught her kids to put words to books even if they do not know what it says, and later went back and filmed herself flipping the pages of the book.
Isn't this little girl cute?

2.) Rhett & Link - T-Shirt War
When making this list I knew I had to put Rhett and Link up here, they are one of the greatest duo of YouTube vloggers (second only to the VlogBrothers). I could have put up the Bathroom song which I love or the iconic Taco Bell song or even the Red Barn - Local Commercial, but I just love stop motion.
Don't you want to throw a carton of eggs at someone's shirt to see what it will do now?

3.) Stereotypical Homeschooler
A few years ago my friend Bekka was stumbling around on YouTube, the one procrastinatory thing she actually does (I swear the woman is the organized Xena of doing work. Her Motto "Get Work Done Right the First time or whip it in shape with my amazonian powers). However she shared this video, it made us both laugh, each of us having been a home-schooler at one time.
I have since lost this kid on YouTube, or at least this video. =/
4.) Candlelight
Now Christmas has past, but before that was Hanukkah! Oh yeah!! That 8 day Jewish Holiday of gifting splendor, Torah reading and just plain Jewish fun... You know you are a Jew when: You love reading the old testament. (Okay so maybe that isn't only Jews, leave me and my preconceived thoughts alone. It's okay ego, you don't have to be upset.)
I wish I were in NY, these Jewish boys are first cute and second able to sing!

5.) Dentyne Ice Commercial
I don't chew a lot of gum. Usually when I eat food I swallow, and when you swallow gum your mom yells at you.. well okay that was my Grandmother, but then she was also the one who licked her finger and cleaned my face.... yay for old lady spittle on your cheek. o.O
I love how implicative these commercials are, haha.

6.) Do You Want To Date My Avatar
I do not remember where I first saw this video, I do remember my cousin putting it up on her Facebook once. Since I first saw the video the nerd in my loved it. Not only is it about role-play games (What nerd doesn't like something like DnD or WoW every now and then?) but it features women nerds. I know they exist, everyone does, but the media seems to love making it seem like they are non-existent.
Sorry gotta go, time to role some dice!

7.) I'm Awesome Nerdy
I believe I found this through the VlogBrothers. I do enjoy their YouTube channel a lot. (And while everyone loves Hank; who is awesome, smart and green. John is my more favorite brother; he is sweet, writes, and is funny.) However this video, I showed this to my sister Sarah, who it always seems to think the few things I find are lame, but she loved it. Both of my sisters did.
+20 points for the fake rabies

8.) I Love XKCD
XKCD is one of the best webcomics. His comics are witty, cute, and hilarious. One time a friend of mine took Comic 442 and put it on their facebook, I was tagged in it (4th row, 1 column). Well I found this video online that turned Comic 442 into a video. However the idea for this comic came from this video by Discovery Channel:
I love writing blogs!

9.) Pixels
I love stop motion, especially when done correctly. This video may not be the best stop motion ever, but man is the idea of it priceless. It would be great to see an 8-bit Donkey Kong on the Empire.
Ah, run from Pac Man! He may eat you like a ghost!

10.) Skittles Tube Sock
Man, what will Skittles think of next? I was watching a video on Hulu and this commercial, never have I seen this one on the TV though. I have seen those car insurance ones... I love when they get creative.
Hit me again blogspot!
