Song 2009: My Boy Builds Coffins / White Blank Page

Warning: This post is actually long, because I couldn't choose a song. There are two. Please read both, they both deserve the attention.

Song 2009A: My Boy Builds Coffins
Artist: Florence + the Machine
Album: Lungs
The debut album of Florence + the Machine. I learned about this band through a friend, he adores Florence Welch. (Seriously, I do not use adore lightly here) Florence weaves stories, surprising melodies and the pain and joy of love in her music. There are many songs I could share but I decided on My Boy Builds Coffins. When I looked up her music on YouTube I found a video of her singing this song along with a small interview. (The link below is the video I watched)

If for nothing else I love this song because of the story it tells. A lonesome boy who makes coffins, her lover does nothing else with his craftsmanship. He doesn't make coffins because he wants to, but because they are needed. "One of these days, he'll make one for you..."

Song 2009B: White Blank Page
Artist: Mumford & Sons
Album: Sigh No More
Another debut album. If you know anything about Mumford and Sons you know they rock the house with their foot stomping, heart thumping, adrenaline rushing sound.

There was no way I could choose between Florence and Mumford, and so I had to put both. There are many songs on this album that I plain adore. The Cave has been played on the radio quite a bit lately. For both Florence and Mumford, for being debut albums, have a lot of attention!! =D

Little Lion Man is a favorite, but I love the lyrics of White Blank Page. "Tell me now, where was my fault, in loving you with my whole heart?"
