Catharsis

For every person there is an escape. An escape from stress, an escape from worries, an escape from people, an escape to worship. A back door that leaves behind the shell of who they appear to be and leads to who they are. A place where they can think, where they can connect. (or disconnect)

For some this is in running.

For others they do art.

Even still there are those who love to plant.

I may not love all of these things as others do, for they are not my exit plan, but I do enjoy these activities.

An escape though, is the place you can go when angry, jubilant, distraught, confused, hurt, or tired. The place you can retreat and relax. Where you can release all the stress and 'bad vibes'.

Usually this is a place you love or something you enjoy so much you can feel your heart leap at the thought of this relaxant.

For me, this is playing my guitar.

I may not be Jimi Hendrix, Joe Satriani, or Sheryl Crow but I do enjoy plucking a tune. Playing my guitar is such a wonderful thing.

It is my escape.

If you don't know what this is then you haven't found yours yet. And that is okay! Just keep looking. It is not always something you are good at. One of my friends' hobby is gardening.

Lessons in Music Part 1

Often when someone says "Part One" they mean that there will be more to come, however I cannot promise that there will... be more to come that is.

I am not one to be sentimental when it comes to the New Year. It doesn't seem pertinent to me. I am however one who loves music. I know they do not seem to coincide, however maybe I can make you see how they do.

Because I am not sentimental I do not make "New Years Resolutions." There really is no point, they are boring to me. You may like them well enough, but I do not understand them. If you are changing now, why did you not change earlier? Did the New Calendar year bring in some sort of power that will help you accomplish these things? Any who, I am making a sort of resolution.

I say sort because it really isn't a resolution, more of a "I am going to do this because I want to and it happens to be on the second of the year." thing.

I am going to take up the guitar again. I played it for a semester, so I am going to see if I cannot learn again. I can learn the chords easy enough, I think what will get me is knowing the strumming patterns, but those will come with practice.
