Day 87: August 6thSo when I first saw the commercial for this movie I thought it sounded great! Action packed and full of mythology. Then after a bit I worried that it would be filled with the same, gooey, sappy, cheese that most kids films are made with now (if not filled with crap like sex).
I was pleasantly surprised, and gratefully surprised, that this movie was actually pretty fantastic. There were parts that had me on the edge of my seat shouting at the tv, as if what I was saying would really have an impact on those characters. (Just as a note; don't try shouting at the tv, it has no effect.)
After futile attempts at informing the characters I just let them make their mistakes. Some proved to actually help them in the long run. (ie. the choice to leave the camp towards the beginning)
If you want a movie that has decent action, stupid crushes (which do not actually make a large love story component thankfully), some laughter and a hint of Greek mythos all in a movie that kids can watch? You have it here.
MPAA Rating: PG for Action Violence and Peril, Some Scary Images and Suggestive Material, and Mild Language
My Rating: 10/10 though I am sure the books are probably even better
